Radio controlled cars or RC cars are generally
battery or gas-powered replica cars that can be managed by using a
specific remote from a distance. The term "R/C" indicates both "remote
controlled" and "radio controlled", in case of the "remote controlled"
cars, they are connected to their controller by a wire. Radio control
cars, also known as RC cars or RC drift cars include the types of cars
one can find in toy and electronics stores.
- The two major types of RC cars
Radio control cars are available in two primary
forms: the "toy" style cars or trucks which are advertised during shows
on television and sold at electronics and toy stores, and the "kit"
type cars or trucks that are available only at dedicated hobby shops or
online order companies. They come either as a” build-it-yourself” kit
or "ready to run". Toy-style cars are often advertised as "remote
control", while the hobbyists refer to kit-style cars as "radio
control".
- Know the difference
While the kit RC cars and trucks are initially more
expensive, they are more durable and faster than toy RC cars. You can
also mend this type of RC car or truck, which is usually not possible
with toy RC cars. The cost to repair a car or truck is only a fraction
of the cost it would take to send a toy-style kit to its manufacturer,
in most cases the manufactures doesn’t even repair them. You can also
upgrade an RC car or truck to make it stronger, faster, more
adjustable, more durable, or simply make it look better. Some RC car
and truck kits have optional bodies that you can replace at whatever
time you want, which means while you may have a street car today, you
can have a sports car tomorrow, or a sedan, or even a street truck!
- An on-road or Off-road kit?
There are many things to consider, before choosing
the right type of RC car: The possible areas you can run the car on,
and the quantity of time you can spend working on the car. On-road kits
are very speedy and they appear like the cars you often see on
racetracks around the world. They are easy to drive with four-wheel
drive, and you will get real like bodies and treaded tires to scale
realism. Nevertheless, they are not designed to be driven on a very
rough surface. While the off-road models, have a wide tire selection,
and can be used on various types of terrain. There are several online
stores that have Rc drift cars for sale and they as well offer expert advice on choosing the right RC cars.
